PETALING JAYA: Nazifuddin Najib, the son of former prime minister Najib Razak, has set his eyes on the post of Umno deputy youth chief in the upcoming party elections.

In a statement on his Facebook page today, Nazifuddin said he hopes to attract more youths to join Umno and strengthen the party in the future.

Nazifuddin is the secretary-general of the Olympic Council of Malaysia.

He said he also wants to contribute his efforts towards the betterment of sports in Malaysia and help people explore their talents and skills.

“If I am given the opportunity to take up the role, I will put my focus on the young voters and school leavers as they can help us win in the next general election,” he said.

The Umno elections for the party’s state committees and its three wings – Youth, Wanita and Puteri – will be held from Feb 1 to March 18.
