Ex-convict who spent 3 decades in jail dies of heart attack

PETALING JAYA: A former convict who had been imprisoned for 30 years was found dead at his home in Kuala Nerang, Kedah today.

Jamil Ahmad, 71, was found by his housemate lying unconscious just outside his house this morning, Kosmo reported.

Padang Terap police chief Mulkiaman Manzar however ruled out foul play, adding that Jamil died of a heart attack.

He also said that Jamil had been unwell since last week.

“It is believed he was on his way to the toilet when he fell,” the daily quoted him as saying.

Jamil was sentenced to 30 years and 11 months in prison for an armed robbery in Baling, Kedah in 1976. He was released in October 2006 after being pardoned by the Kedah sultan.
