PETALING JAYA: All 30 Barisan Nasional MPs have been granted an audience with the King at 10.30am tomorrow morning.
Istana Negara said this was so that the King can decide who to appoint as the 10th prime minister.
“His Majesty urges and advises Malaysians to remain patient and calm until the process of forming a new government, and the appointment of the 10th prime minister, is concluded.
“His Majesty also urges Malaysians to pray that this process will proceed smoothly for the sake of our beloved nation,” said Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a statement.
Earlier, the King summoned Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim and Perikatan Nasional leader Muhyiddin Yassin to Istana Negara.
Istana Negara had confirmed that neither of them commanded the majority support of MPs to be appointed the prime minister.
Following their audience with the King, Anwar said there was no decision yet on who would helm the top post, adding that there was “still a vacancy, and applications are open”.
The PKR president said the King expressed his desire for a strong and formidable government that was inclusive “in terms of various races, religion and region”.
